Growing your Cloth

Flax is one of the oldest crops in the British Isles
Grown since the bronze age, its stems produce one of the strongest and most versatile plant fibres - Linen.

Here at Cloth, our mission is to see sustainable fibres grown and processed here in England for fabric.

We’ve been busy planning the planting of our pilot flax crop, which we hope to spin, weave and dye entirely in the UK!

We’ll be sowing our crop towards the end of this month once the soil has warmed. Flax takes around 100 days, from seed to harvest, the fibre is then extracted, spun into yarn and then woven into linen.
We are excited to document the growing process to share it with you here and on Instagram.
